There are a variety of lasers that can be used to treat a number of skin conditions. Typically, the intensity of the laser treatment correlates with the benefit seen. To address fine wrinkles and tighten the skin a powerful CO2 laser can be used, however it can require general anesthesia and recovery is about 1 month.  A profractional laser (often with a microlaser peel) can accomplish the same thing with about 1 week of recovery and no need for general anesthesia, however results are more subtle and it can require 3-5 treatments to achieve the same result as a single CO2 treatment. Pigmentation, fine blood vessels, and tattoos can be treated with gentler lasers that may or may not require a topical numbing cream or local anesthetic.  We have an extremely experienced laser technician who brings a variety of lasers to our practice every month, and he helps us determine the best laser and settings to use.  We do not perform laser hair removal.
